gotten this very short chapter from a friend of mine. no edits was done to the passage. a 18 years of memories strank to a few lines. a short passage yet taste sweet at the tip of the tongue. though things never worked out between these two kids, there were beautiful memories that lingered in their minds over the years. they were right not to be together, do they?

just wondering how many short, small chapters in your life embedded in your head? so small yet significant. what were you thinking at the age of 11? where were you at the age of 11? my primary school no longer exist now. though the building still stands below my void deck, mine was a happy and sad. my friends who were also my classmates from Pri 1 to Pri 5 was a fun lot. i only have happy images of it. the only sad part is we got to split into different class categories: 6A - Maths Class. 6B - Norm. 6C - English & Math Class. 6D - English Class. i was in 6A then....

these two little kids, born a year apart, met at an acting class and were inseparable ever since. he, armed with boyish good looks and an endearing smile, was always ready to stay and accompany this little girl, no matter where she was. even if she sat down with the other girls and yakked away, he would still sit next to her and wait. without a word of complaint.

they became fast friends.

when the teacher assigned pair work, they automatically grouped together.

when she needed someone to put a smile on her face, he would do an impersonation of the darlie toothpaste's advertisement. (read: ha ha lelelele)

when she wore a yellow windbreaker (which made her look like a banana), he bought a white one.

of cos, there was sparks flying between them. it was a fact no one could deny. boy likes girl and girl likes boy.

she broke his heart when he asked her to be his girlfriend at a chalet playground. he was sitting quietly near the slide when he plucked up courage to ask her. she knew it was coming but yet pretended to be oblivious, and even asked him if he was thinking of his girlfriend.

"can you be my girlfriend?" the 12-year-old little boy whispered.

"you siao ar?" his 11-year-old heartbreaker replied.

the little boy cried when the little girl left. his heart broken by the first girl he ever liked.

they stopped talking. totally. the little girl was afraid to look at her little boy anymore, especially when she was told he cried because of her. she could see the hurt in his eyes. he never looked at her in the eyes again, or perhaps because she didn't want him to.

moral of the story: (1) it is too young for 11/ 12 year olds to go steady, (2)though things never worked out between these two kids, there were beautiful memories that lingered in their minds over the years.
